About Karen Higgason

Karen has a very interesting background starting with being raised in Mt. Vernon, Virginia on one of three tracts of land owned by George Washington. In the 60's and 70's her father began purchasing and developing land and thus the seed of influence was planted. Karen's career in real estate began during this period when she was a carpenter's helper, finish carpenter, finish superintendent, as well as a surveyor, primarily in an all-male environment. Not content to work only in the field, in the early 80's her quest for knowledge led to a position as Manager in a real estate attorney's office where she also performed title searches. In 1992, Karen and her husband, Jim, moved to the Eastern Shore. "Jim had a job transfer offer. We sold our home in Virginia, bought an acre on the water, designed a house, contracted a builder and have been enjoying the slower pace and fresh air ever since," Karen happily stated. In addition to being a licensed Delaware & Maryland Realtor, Karen has completed the Maryland Real Estate Appraisal course, although she is not a licensed appraiser.
